a broken home

Divorce can get ugly. The aftermath is often not only the remains of a broken home, but often, a broken child.
Research confirms that an adolescent girl from a family of divorce can find it hard to re-marry or fears settling down to a future partner. The truth is every girl reacts differently.
The characteristics of a young woman finding it hard to cope with divorce may be as follows:
- difficulty coping with anger, outrage, shame, and sadness
- they are more likely to re-examine their own values
- May disengage from the family to do this.
- Some fear long-term relationships with others
- Show adjustment difficulties such as running away, truancy, and delinquency.

To avoid this, it is essential for parents to keep life as normal as possible. "If mum and dad continue to persevere in their parenting, are warm and supportive, monitor the kids and are consistent in discipline, the risk for conduct problems is no greater than in two-parent families." suggests Ronald L. Simons, who conducted the research of a child’s adjustment of divorce at the Department of Sociology.
